Dr. Alok Roy is the Chairman and MD of The Medica Group of Hospitals, which is one of the fastest growing healthcare chains in Eastern India, with hospitals in West and North Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam and Odisha. Dr. Alok Roy’s vision is to give healthcare facilities that are at par with international quality standards at an affordable rate, to the people of Kolkata, and to East India at large.
Though Dr. Roy specialized in Nuclear Cardiology from AIIMS, his passion lies in the building and management of hospitals. As a social entrepreneur, he has established numerous healthcare facilities across the country along with his team. Additionally, he has undertaken significant pioneering work in the field of delivering quality affordable care through his involvement with Telehealth, Project Buddha, Health Hosts, Swasthy Mitra (Health Friends), to name a few initiatives.
He has conceptualised and is currently running the largest and only one of its kind fleet of
ambulances for Road/Street Trauma services in Kolkata (West Bengal), Ranchi and Jamshedpur (Jharkhand). This is a unique service, which is akin to 911 emergency services of the USA, and was implemented in India for the first time in the aforementioned cities. This initiative has been running successfully for more than 5 year, benefitting thousands of road accident victims.
Dr. Roy is past President of Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Chairman, Health Services Committee for the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FICCI).
