Biography

Director, National Health Authority (NHA)

Mr. Vaska is the current Director at National Health Authority (NHA), under the Government of India. National Health Authority (NHA) is the apex body responsible for implementing India’s flagship public health insurance/assurance scheme called “Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana” & has been entrusted with the role of designing strategy, building technological infrastructure and implementation of “National Digital Health Mission” to create a National Digital Health Eco-system.

Prior to joining NHA, he was the Managing Director at Madhya Pradesh’s Poorv Kshetra Vidhyut Vitaran Company Limited.

He was also the Mission Director at the National Health Mission, again a Government of India initiative, where he led the state level team in implementing various government initiatives related to full life cycle of maternal and child health (to reduce IMR and MMR), population stabilisation, prevent and reduce mortality & morbidity from communicable, non-communicable and other emerging diseases.

He also managed health programs with an overall budget of $300 million; along with working on to reduce household out-of-pocket expenditure on total health care expenditure. He has also coordinated the efforts of international agencies like UNICEF, WHO, WORLD BANK, UNFPA, UNDP and other non governmental agencies like Clinton Health Access Initiative, TATA Trusts, JHPIEGO, bilateral agencies like USAID, DFID etc. to improve health care service delivery. across Karnataka, India.
